Hexter Hawks August 2025 Newsletter
Message from the President

Welcome back, Hawks! We’re excited to kick off the new school year with the second annual edition of our monthly newsletter.

First, I want to extend a massive thank-you to all the past and present board members who have helped all of this years volunteers get ramped up! The team is already dedicating meaningful time to help launch the year - we can’t wait to get back together with everyone in just over a week!

For those I haven’t yet met, my name is Sean Granfield. I’ve been fortunate to be part of the Hexter community for the past two and a half years. My wife, Morgan, and I have two boys at Hexter—our oldest, Davin, started his journey here in Kindergarten and is now entering 3rd grade, while our youngest, Riley, is headed into 1st grade.

As we get into the swing of things, I want to take a moment to highlight the vital role fundraising plays—and how your PTA puts those dollars to work.

What does the PTA fund?

  • Teacher supply reimbursements

  • Campus improvements

  • Fine arts programs (instruments, school musicals)

  • Custodial and nursing supplies

  • Field trip support

  • Catrina Cooper Food Pantry

  • Mindfulness program

  • Year-round teacher appreciation

  • Hexter Garden Teacher

  • Full salary and benefits for a Teaching Assistant on campus to help close the learning gap

This is not a complete list—there are many additional ways we support Hexter’s teachers, staff, and administration. Most importantly, your PTA exists to advocate for you, your family, and every child in our community.

If you’ve ever been unsure about joining the PTA—or thought membership required volunteering—know that simply becoming a member is a powerful way to make a difference. It’s one of the biggest ways you can support everything listed above.

Visit JoinPTA.org to sign up—for yourself, your partner, or even your Hexter Hawk!

Here’s to another HEXELLENT year together!

Warmly,
Sean Granfield
